Foolish Hope

Hope is a basic feeling we all share. Sometimes, hope can go on, and on, and on for a long time without becoming realized. I wanted to tell the story of this experience. The “on & on & on” part is called “demented reality” among professional psychotherapists. For the sake of lyrical phrasing and singing sounds, I did changed “demented reality” to Foolish Hope.

For some of us, a “moment” arrives somewhere down the line when we are finally honest with ourselves and know that it is time to move on from something in our lives. We are stuck on someone, something or sometimes just the world around us being so difficult. Once we move on, looking back reveals just how stuck we were.

I could hear Bonnie Raitt covering this song. With that in mind, I asked Kirk James to join me in the studio to add some authentic blues guitar to the groove Here is the version we recorded with Engineer Scooter Smith adding his ear. My, My ….did it ever work! Bonnie - would still love to hear your interpretation of this song. It is definitely in your wheelhouse!
